San Diego Pride 2013

This Saturday is Pride Day!!! Come on out!
Anyone who’s ever been will tell you, Pride is an all day affair. During this year’s San Diego Pride, attendees have a variety of choices in activities. From block parties and the parade to a 5K run/walk, there is something for all of us under the rainbow. New this year, couples can marry at Pride and hold their ceremony smack dab in the middle of the city’s biggest celebration.
With all the happenings in Hillcrest, fueling up and partying down are on the agenda. Showing and supporting the cause for love and equality takes sustenance and we have the inside scoop to help you plan for Pride:
Fig Tree Café
416 University Ave
Fuel Up: Start you day at Fig Tree for a little pre-parade brunch. Fuel up with a bottomless cup of organic coffee or get the party started early with a raspberry bellini. And don’t miss out on the “man candy,” thick slabs of bacon coated with brown sugar and paprika.
Uptown Tavern
1236 University Ave
Party Down in the Thick of Things: Open from 9 a.m.-2 a.m. on Saturday, Uptown Tavern will be partying 1970s style all day. Get a front row seat at the Parade Viewing Party or stop in for any of the three deejays performing live sets. On Friday, check out Billy the Kid from 9:30 p.m. until 1:30a.m. And on Saturday, Billy the Kid returns from 1 p.m. until 5:30 when Joey Jimenez takes the stage until 8:30 p.m. and rounding out the night is Hevrock until 1:30 a.m. Billy’s back on Sunday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. With the $10 cover on Saturday, guests are transported back to the age of disco and will receive a drink ticket that will be good for one well drink, domestic draft, or house wine.
3805 5th Ave
Brats and Beer, Parade-Route Adjacent: Grab some lunch and quench your mid-day thirst with one of Salt & Cleaver’s twenty craft beer drafts. Offering a selection of expertly crafted “protected” sausages, as well as a build-your-own menu, the options are endless.
3797 Park Blvd
Off the Beaten Path: Need a break from the madness? Sneak into the deceivingly cool Heat Bar & Kitchen for an afternoon escape. Enjoy $5 wine, beer and snacks from 4pm-6:30pm.
441 Washington Ave
‘Cue It Up for Dinner: Pride is a marathon not a sprint, and after all that people-watching, San Diegans and visitors both could use some fuel to keep ‘em going through the night. Grab some satisfying eats at Brazen BBQ, offering up award-winning barbecue and mouth-watering burgers.
