Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so it's definitely time to lock in those February 14 plans! Here are a few items happening that weekend!
Del Mar’s Sea & Smoke, North’s Park’s Urban Solace and Solace & the Moonlight Lounge of Encinitas will offer a prix fixe menu and drink specials over three days in celebration of Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 13 through Saturday, Feb. 15. As is always the case at his restaurants, Chef Matt Gordon will offer a menu comprised of carefully selected, completely natural foods and cocktails.
The three-course prix fixe menu will consist of such items as an amuse-bouche of Dungeness crab on buttered brioche with a lemon-cucumber crème fraîche and smoked trout roe; a decadent lobster bisque with parmesan crouton and nutmeg; spiced cocoa rubbed beef tenderloin with confit potato and asparagus; and ginger crème brûlée with candied citrus. Vegetarian and gluten free options will be available as well.

Little Italy is one of the most romantic local neighborhoods to spend time in this Valentine’s Day. · Take a stroll – After dinner, if you find you and your date slowly wandering up Little Italy’s picturesque streets, don’t be surprised! Did you know the Little Italy Association purposefully planned to arrange the trees 10 paces apart, to encourage pedestrians to slow down and enjoy the scenery?
· Feel the glow – During the month of February, Little Italy replaces its iconic white string lights with red, to celebrate the month of love AND in observance of American Heart Month.
· End the night with a sweet treat – Would it really be a true Italian date without a cup of gelato or a slice of tiramisu to share with your sweetie? Many of the cafes and coffee shops around the neighborhood offer freshly-made desserts every day – perfect to eat in the shop, or take “to-go,” if you happen to be in a rush to get back home.
