From July 23-26, Costco stores in San Diego will be featuring two new varieties of Tony Roma's famous prepared pulled pork and ribs: gluten-free Kansas City Style Kickin’ Sweet & Spicy BBQ and Blue Ridge Sweet & Smoky BBQ.
I was invited to develop a recipe using the pulled pork, and of course I agreed! Their pork dishes are so easy and the flavor is top-notch. The meat is very tender and fresh-tasting, difficult to achieve sometimes with a packaged item.
The flavor of the sauce that is included on the pork is great, don't get me wrong. And seriously, such easy preparation. Simply pull the meat from the package, pour into an oven-safe pan, and heat for 10 minutes at 400. However, I thought that it would be great to give a sort of Korean pulled pork flair to the meat, so I came up with this quick, easy recipe. This pork would be excellent for a sandwich, or served as a delicious taco with some radish and other sliced vegetables.
Korean Pulled Pork (gluten-free)
1-lb package of Tony Roma's gluten-free pulled pork, Kansas City BBQ
1 tsp La Choy soy sauce (La Choy is gluten-free)
1 tsp McCormick's Chinese 5-spice Powder (gluten-free)
1-2 tbsp sriracha sauce, depending on how spicy you'd like your pork
Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Unpackage the meat, and place into an oven-safe dish. Pour the rest of the ingredients into the meat, and mix using two forks. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven, and sprinkle with sesame seeds to taste.
Serve as desired; we served with white rice, sesame green beans, and sweet potatoes.
